Needless to say, we here at the Puckered Pickle Company, LOVE cucumbers. In addition to tasting great whether plain or pickled, there are many other health benefits for this cool green fruit.
Whether it be putting slices over your eyes to soothe and reduce puffiness, to adding slices to your water for a delicious refreshing alternative to plain water. C’mon! Don’t let this beautiful fruit shrivel away in your crisper drawer. Put them to use! Here are some tidbits of info we found that made me want to have cucumbers a staple in my refrigerator!:
- Cucumbers are considered one of the best superfoods for the health of skin, joints, liver and kidneys.
- Because they contain B vitimins, cucumbers are a natural source of energy. Eat a few slices for a morning or mid afternoon pick me up instead of caffeine.
- Cucumbers are said to have a natural anti-aging effect and can help reduce puffiness around the eyes and tighten skin to minimize wrinkles.
- Cucumbers contain chemical compounds, or lignans, that have been researched in connection with reducing the risk of several cancer types.
- Cucumbers have been known to relieve and freshen bad breath
- Because of its high water content and dietary fiber, cucumbers aid in weight loss.
Wow! Labor Day Weekend already? This summer flew by! But I guess they usually do.
Did you know that Labor Day was first celebrated in New York in 1882? I could go on and on but…today, along with celebrating the working people of America, it also symbolizes the end of summer and back to school. Why sulk and be depressed that summer is almost over? Embrace it! Have a party! Make this simple and awesome dip for your Labor Day celebration
Puckered Pickle Dip with Potato Chips
PUCKERED PICKLE DIP
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1/2 to 1 cup finely chopped Puckered Pickle Deli Dills, depending on how “pickle-ly” you like things
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Pickle juice (2-3 tablespoons or more)
Dill, for garnish, if desired
Combine pickles with the cream cheese and Worcestershire sauce and mix until well blended. Splash in a bit of pickle juice to thin the dip out a bit (add more depending how thin or thick you like your dip). Mix well (I like to use an electric mixer for this – saves time.)
Top it with a sprig of fresh dill to class it up!
Serve cold or at room temperature with potato chips. Dee-lish!
Have a great and safe Labor Day Weekend!
I made this burger last week with the Alpino Muffalata in my fridge – sorry, I should have taken a picture of it but I scarfed it down too fast!…Next time. Mix 1 oz. of drained Alpino Muffalata with 4 oz. ground beef. Form into a patty and grill to your desired degree of doneness. Serve on Kaiser roll with mayonnaise, tomato, onion, lettuce and sliced Puckered Pickles. Easy, right? Dee-lish!

Aloha! Our pickles are now featured on Arby’s new King’s Hawaiian Roast Beef & Swiss sandwich available at participating Arby’s for a limited time! This sandwich seems to be getting positive reviews. Maybe they’ll keep it on the menu. First of all, this thing is HUGE! It’s made with an extra helping of 1/3 more thinly sliced roast beef, Swiss cheese, a creamy Dijon sauce and the best part, tart and crunchy delicious fresh (Puckered) pickles on a soft, slightly sweet and airy, KING’S HAWAIIAN® sandwich bun. If you are a fan of Arby’s or Puckered Pickles or Hawaiian bread for that matter, you should check it out and of course, order it with extra pickles!
